Farka Lake, 9.6 kilometers from central Tirana, turned into a sports arena on Sunday as the sixth edition of “Tiranathlon” brought together cycling, running and swimming.
The international triathlon attracted sports fans and participants of different ages. They competed across the three disciplines in one of Tirana’s natural settings.
This year, organizers registered 140 athletes, while 116 participants took part in the races. The event recorded its highest participation across its six editions.
The competition started in the morning and followed the designated route around Farka Lake. The race created a lively sporting atmosphere and encouraged participants to stay active and embrace a healthier lifestyle.
Meanwhile, Tirana Municipality worked with the State Police to manage traffic and ensure the event ran smoothly.
From 08:00 to 13:00, authorities temporarily restricted and diverted traffic along several road sections. The measures mainly affected the route connecting the Farka and TEG areas with Shkozë.
The sixth edition of “Tiranathlon” aims to promote sport and physical activity while encouraging people to use public spaces for sporting events. As a result, Farka Lake continues to strengthen its role as an important venue for sports competitions in the capital.
Local and international athletes joined the event. Participants came from Italy, Bulgaria, Greece, Kosovo and other countries.
This year’s competition featured two main distances. The Sprint category included 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling and 5 kilometers of running.
The Olympic category included 1.5 kilometers of swimming, 40 kilometers of cycling and 10 kilometers of running.
In addition, organizers held relay races, giving teams another opportunity to compete and experience the atmosphere of Tiranathlon.
