Agreement Signed with Italian Company: Albania to Produce Ships in Pashaliman

Prime Minister Edi Rama was present at the signing of an agreement between Fincantieri, one of Europe’s leading companies of excellence, and KAYO, to produce ships at the Pashaliman shipyard in Albania.

According to Rama, this venture will focus on producing vessels that will serve not only the Albanian Armed Forces but also the militaries of allied countries. The project is expected to increase production capacities and strengthen military cooperation in the region.

The Prime Minister described the agreement as an important opportunity for young people, especially students of the Industrial School of Vlorë. He emphasized that they will be among the first to be included in specialized training programs, with the aim of becoming part of this new industry in their city.

“A strategic partnership with the Italian government. This is an agreement with Fincantieri to create a new company to produce ships in Albania, at the Pashaliman shipyard, which will serve the Albanian military but also other allied armed forces.
This agreement is very good news for young people, for the boys and girls of the Industrial School of Vlorë, who will be the first to be invited to take part in a tailored training pathway so that they can become future participants in this new company of excellence in their territory, in their city,” said Rama.

The Minister of Defense, Ermal Nufi, stated that the agreement will bring new jobs and strengthen exports.

“Today, with this signing, the KAYO company begins a new step where we will be able to produce for export needs. Albania becomes a new European base for Fincantieri for small and medium-sized vessels, expanding its activity. Fincantieri will also bring employment, and according to the business plan we have signed, around 400 people will be employed at this new shipyard, increasing local production and human capacities,” said the Minister of Defense.

A representative of Fincantieri stated that the agreement carries both strategy and ambition.

“As we just discussed, there is a lot of strategy and ambition behind this agreement. It is not only about following a program, but about creating something productive with ambition. We may develop a product that can be used in Fincantieri’s exports, with modernization, competitiveness, and new ideas for both the vessel and the production process,” said the company’s representative.
