Agricultural University of Tirana–Vienna university cooperation becomes European model

TIRANA, May 19 – The cooperation between the Agricultural University of Tirana and the Vienna University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences has delivered concrete results. It has developed into a key European model in higher education. Meanwhile, the rector of the Vienna university, Eva Schulev-Steindl, assessed the progress of the joint project and underlined the importance of university cooperation in Albania’s European integration path.

In an interview with the media, Schulev-Steindl said that cooperation between universities in Europe has become more important than ever. She also linked this development to Albania’s perspective of joining the European Union, saying it increases the relevance of the partnership. In addition, she stated that the joint project has entered its second year of implementation and is producing concrete results in the modernisation of academic programmes and in increasing student interest.

She said Bachelor programmes have been fully redesigned and now attract more students. She added that student numbers in the restructured programmes developed with the Vienna university have increased by 20% over the past year. Finally, she concluded that the partnership is bringing real transformation to higher education and strengthening European academic links.
