Kosovo judoka Akil Gjakova has started a new chapter in his career as he aims to qualify for his third Olympic Games.
Gjakova announced that he is beginning the new Olympic qualification cycle after more than a decade competing at the highest level of international judo.
He said that staying among the world’s elite judokas for nearly 13 years reflects his dedication, hard work and continuous sacrifices.
“Another great chapter begins for me: the journey towards Olympic qualification, which would be my third Olympic Games. Being part of world judo’s elite for around 13 years makes me proud of the work, commitment and results I have achieved,” Gjakova said.
Moreover, the Kosovo athlete highlighted the key role of his coach, Driton Kuka, in shaping his career and helping him reach international success.
“My coach Driton Toni Kuka gave direction and life to my journey as an athlete,” he said.
Gjakova also thanked his early supporters and sponsors who helped him during the first stages of his career.
Now, the judoka will focus on the new Olympic cycle as he seeks to secure qualification and continue representing Kosovo among the world’s top judo competitors.
