AKSHI Shares Albania’s Digital Transformation Experience with Kurdistan Region Delegation

The National Agency of Information Society (AKSHI) hosted a high-level delegation from the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, led by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, to discuss digital transformation and innovation in public administration.

AKSHI Director General Igli Tafa and other representatives welcomed Talabani and his delegation, which included the Minister of Planning, the Deputy Foreign Minister, the Chairwoman of the Tourism Board, advisers on reform and modernization, as well as representatives from the business community and civil society.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged experiences on digitalizing public administration, expanding electronic services, strengthening cybersecurity and integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into government processes.

Tafa and AKSHI officials presented Albania’s digital transformation model, which focuses on redesigning administrative processes, connecting government systems and using advanced technologies to improve institutional efficiency and citizens’ access to services.

Furthermore, discussions highlighted the latest developments of the e-Albania 2.0 platform, data governance, cybersecurity measures and the integration of AI into public administration. AKSHI also presented solutions that use AI to support the alignment of Albanian legislation with EU standards, along with plans to expand the GovAI ecosystem and introduce AI into other strategic government processes.

Talabani praised Albania’s progress in digital transformation and expressed particular interest in the country’s digital governance model, especially its inter-institutional coordination, cybersecurity framework and use of AI in public services.

He added that Albania’s experience could serve as a valuable example for the Kurdistan Region as it advances reforms aimed at modernizing institutions and improving public services.
