Albania agriculture minister says farmer consultations shape support schemes

TIRANA, April 16 – Albania’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Andis Salla said more than 65,000 farmers benefited from the national support scheme last year. He described the figure as evidence of broad participation across the country.

Speaking in parliament, Salla addressed concerns raised by opposition lawmaker Ramadan Lika on direct and transparent financing. He said he met farmers in all 61 municipalities and collected feedback on their needs. Authorities have incorporated these inputs into the 2026 national support scheme.

The minister said he will continue field visits to gather further feedback from farmers. He also invited members of parliamentary committees to join these visits and engage directly with rural communities.

Salla stressed that institutional presence on the ground remains essential for effective policymaking. He added that direct dialogue helps authorities adjust support measures and respond to sector needs.
