Representatives of the Albanian and Montenegrin customs administrations held a coordination meeting today to prepare for the opening of the joint border crossing point at Zogaj–Ckla/Skje.
Border police officials, local authorities, and infrastructure representatives also attended the meeting to discuss the next steps in the project.
Participants reviewed progress on selecting the customs checkpoint location and examined the technical requirements needed to make the crossing operational as soon as possible during the current tourist season.
The new border crossing will facilitate cross-border travel, strengthen ties between communities on both sides of the border, and create new opportunities for economic and tourism development in the area.
In addition, the crossing will operate under a one-stop control system. This model will allow travelers to complete border procedures at a single checkpoint, reducing waiting times and improving efficiency.
Officials from both countries reaffirmed their commitment to completing the necessary preparations and opening the crossing point as quickly as possible. They emphasized that the project will enhance regional connectivity, support local businesses, and encourage greater movement of people and goods between Albania and Montenegro.
