Albania and Netherlands reaffirm partnership in politics, security and European affairs

TIRANA, May 11 – Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha met Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen on the sidelines of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting in Brussels.

The two ministers reviewed bilateral relations between Albania and the Netherlands. They confirmed a high level of cooperation and expressed commitment to strengthening ties in political, economic, security and European affairs. In this context, Hoxha also used a post on X to reflect key points from the meeting.

Meanwhile, Hoxha thanked the Netherlands for its constructive role in supporting Albania’s EU accession process. He also noted Dutch engagement in promoting stability, the rule of law and democratic resilience in the Western Balkans.

At the same time, he reiterated Albania’s determination to advance EU negotiations at an ambitious pace. He stressed continued implementation of reforms and full compliance with required standards in a merit-based process.

For Albania, he underlined that reforms and their effective implementation remain the central focus.

Hoxha concluded that Albania remains fully committed to its EU path and to close cooperation with European partners for a stronger, safer and more united Europe.
