State Police Director Skënder Hita met with Swedish Ambassador Niklas Ström to discuss ongoing cooperation in law enforcement and police modernization.
During the meeting, Hita praised the strong partnership with Swedish law enforcement agencies. He highlighted the Community Policing Strengthening Programme, which will continue until 2029, as well as support for forensic services, traffic police and the Security Academy.
Furthermore, he noted that cooperation has delivered positive results in several key areas. These include counterterrorism, community policing, juvenile justice, combating gender-based violence, criminal investigations and information exchange.
In addition, Hita emphasized his vision of a better-trained and more professional police force capable of meeting modern security challenges.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Ström welcomed the progress achieved so far. He reaffirmed Sweden’s commitment to supporting the modernization of Albania’s police services and their alignment with European standards.
Finally, both sides discussed future projects. These initiatives will focus on modern technology for traffic policing, stronger capacities to investigate sexual and gender-based violence, intelligence-led policing and improved crime scene investigation capabilities.
