TIRANA, July 29 – Albania’s Ministry of Education will fund two new research laboratories and 23 scientific projects in 2026 through the National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation. The initiative will support biodiversity protection, ecosystem monitoring, sustainable management of natural resources and the development of green technologies.
On World Nature Conservation Day, Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro highlighted the role of scientific research and innovation in addressing environmental challenges.
She said the initiative represents a concrete commitment to placing scientific research and innovation at the service of environmental protection and sustainable development.
Meanwhile, the ministry said the new laboratories will strengthen national research infrastructure. The funded projects will also expand scientific and innovation capacities in areas linked to nature conservation, the sustainable use of natural resources and responses to environmental challenges.
