Albania Health Minister Spahiu urges medical students to put people at the centre

Health Minister Klodiana Spahiu has addressed medical students at the start of the 2026-2027 academic year. She said medicine faces rapid changes driven by technology, artificial intelligence, advanced diagnostics and scientific research.

Spahiu said future doctors will practise medicine differently from previous generations. She noted that scientific and technological advances are changing the way health professionals provide care.

However, the minister stressed that humanism must remain at the centre of the medical profession. She urged students to benefit from new scientific and technological developments while preserving the human dimension of their work. Spahiu said medicine remains a profession of people serving people.

Meanwhile, she said future doctors must combine scientific knowledge and technology with care and responsibility towards patients. Spahiu urged students to use their knowledge, embrace technology and continue learning. She also called on them to preserve their sense of humanity throughout their professional careers.
