TIRANA, August 14 – Albania has digitized its visa application process through the e-Visa system. The system allows foreign nationals who need a visa to apply and track their applications online.
Besmir Meta, an IT specialist at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, said the National Agency of Information Society (AKSHI) developed the system. Albania moved to the fully digital system in 2020. Earlier, applicants had to appear in person and submit documents at service counters.
Meanwhile, e-Visa records applicants’ data and documents electronically. This improves data accuracy and reduces errors linked to manual processing. Applicants can also track their applications until the visa process ends.
The system covers different types of visas for foreign nationals who need a visa to visit Albania. It also reduces the need for in-person procedures. According to Meta, e-Visa provides a simpler, faster and more secure application process.
