Strengthening customs cooperation and facilitating trade through modern border management were the focus of the first day of a seminar in Durrës. The event brings together the Albanian Customs Administration and Kosovo Customs.
General Director of Customs Besmir Beja said the US Department of Commerce’s Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) supports the seminar. Experts from the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) also took part.
The discussions focused on pre-arrival processing, risk management, information exchange and coordination between the two customs administrations. The participants aim to improve procedures and facilitate the movement of goods between Albania and Kosovo.
CBP experts shared US experience and practices in pre-arrival processing and risk-based customs clearance. They also presented approaches to interinstitutional coordination and the use of electronic information in decision-making.
The seminar also focused on digitalizing customs procedures and developing the Customs Single Window. Participants discussed ways to improve data exchange, reduce duplicate procedures and strengthen coordination between border and regulatory authorities.
Meanwhile, the seminar aims to support modern border management. It also seeks to create more efficient procedures for the movement of goods between Albania and Kosovo.
