Albania launches price comparison platform and discount scheme

Albania has launched two initiatives to help households compare prices and reduce shopping costs. Economy and Innovation Minister Delina Ibrahimaj presented the online Price Comparison platform and the “KURSE” (Save On Shopping) discount scheme.

The platform lists 238 products across 13 categories. Consumers can check prices at 155 sales outlets nationwide and identify where they can buy everyday goods at lower cost. Ibrahimaj said the initiative aims to improve market transparency, strengthen competition and help reduce prices.

Meanwhile, “KURSE” (Save On Shopping) offers discounted products through supermarket chains and 22 suppliers. The scheme includes 325 offers, with an average discount of 13.3% and reductions of up to 40%.

Ibrahimaj said 112 products would have fixed prices until January 12. Participating suppliers will offer them with minimal profit margins.

The minister also stressed that retailers must report actual prices on the comparison platform. She said the initiatives would give consumers more information and greater choice when shopping.
