Albania Leads Region with €212.8 Million from EU Growth Plan

The European Commission confirmed the disbursement of €49 million to Albania under the Reform and Growth Facility.

The funding follows Albania’s implementation of reforms under the National Reform Agenda.

The State Agency for Strategic Programming and Aid Coordination said Albania leads the region with €212.8 million disbursed so far. North Macedonia ranks second with €142.1 million. Montenegro ranks third with €89.3 million.

Eridana Cano said the results show Albania’s commitment to reforms and European integration. She said every euro reflects real work and tangible benefits for citizens and businesses.

Of the €49 million package, €22.8 million will go directly to the state budget. Another €26.2 million will support investment projects through the Western Balkans Investment Framework.

Albania fulfilled 12 out of 21 reform measures in this reporting round.

The reforms include a new law on public-private partnerships and concessions. Authorities also ratified the eCMR protocol to digitalize road transport documents.

The government approved integrity plans for cadastral services and programs to promote exports.

In education, Albania provided professional training for 50% of pre-university teaching staff. Authorities also updated the National Qualifications Framework according to EU standards.

The government adopted legal acts to support innovation and digitalization. It also launched grant schemes for incubators and accelerators.

In the energy sector, Albania continued the gradual removal of public intervention in electricity prices for medium- and high-voltage consumers.

The country also advanced reforms on rule of law and visa policy alignment with EU standards.
