Albania, Moldova, Ukraine and North Macedonia Sign Agreement to Promote Free Elections

The Central Election Commission of Albania and its counterparts in Moldova, Ukraine, and North Macedonia signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen democratic resilience and European cooperation.

First, the agreement was signed during the closing session of the regional conference “Money in Politics 2026.” As a result, the event marked a key step in strengthening regional cooperation in electoral processes.

The institutions committed to promoting free and fair elections. In addition, they agreed to strengthen electoral integrity and support the development of stable democratic systems.

Moreover, the cooperation will focus on key areas such as transparency in political and electoral financing, and the fight against electoral corruption. It will also address the prevention of disinformation, foreign interference, and cyber threats.

Furthermore, the agreement includes the digitalization of electoral processes and the exchange of best practices. It also aims to improve the professional training of election staff.

Finally, the memorandum remains open for other electoral authorities that share the same democratic values and European standards.
