TIRANA, July 30 – The Council of Ministers approved a draft legal act on Albania’s participation in the international mission in Gaza, Defense Minister Ermal Nufi said.
The government will send the draft to the Assembly for approval. Nufi said Albania will initially contribute 4 staff officers to the mission.
Meanwhile, the minister said the deployment follows the mandate of the United Nations Security Council and the International Stabilization Force. He added that the first deployment will help determine Albania’s further level of involvement.
Nufi said the Armed Forces will assess possible additional contributions after the officers join the international force. The assessment will also determine the location where any future troops could operate.
