Albania Puts Social Policies and Price Transparency at the Top of the Agenda

Prime Minister Edi Rama has outlined new government priorities focused on improving living standards and strengthening social policies across Albania.

Following a cabinet meeting in Pogradec, Rama said the government will give particular attention to healthcare and education. He also called for stronger policies that directly improve the quality of everyday life for citizens.

A key priority will be greater transparency around the prices of basic food products. Rama said the government will not set food prices directly. Instead, it plans to introduce a system that will give citizens clearer information about prices and help them better understand market changes.

The government also plans to strengthen what Rama called a “social Albania”, with policies that focus not only on economic progress but also on citizens’ well-being and access to essential services.

Meanwhile, Rama said recent citizen protests have provided an important challenge for the government. He argued that public demands can help authorities identify problems and improve their response to citizens.

Overall, the government says it wants to turn economic progress into better living conditions, stronger public services and greater transparency for Albanian citizens.
