Albania reaffirms support for Ukraine

TIRANA, June 19 – Defence Minister Ermal Nufi took part in the 35th meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group in Brussels, where defence ministers from NATO member states and partner countries discussed the latest security developments and the situation in Ukraine.

Following the meeting, Nufi said Albania reaffirms its unwavering support for Ukraine in line with NATO values and objectives. He stressed that Albania has stood alongside the Ukrainian people since the start of the Russian aggression to defend the country’s freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Meanwhile, Nufi also attended the NATO Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Brussels. Participants discussed the Alliance’s key priorities for strengthening security and collective defence across the Euro-Atlantic area. The meeting highlighted the importance of maintaining allied unity, increasing operational readiness and strengthening defence capabilities in response to emerging security challenges.

In addition, Nufi said cooperation among allies, defence investments and the modernisation of military capabilities provide the strongest guarantee for peace, security and the protection of shared values. He also reaffirmed Albania’s commitment within NATO, stressing that the country will continue to contribute with responsibility and determination as a dedicated and reliable ally while strengthening its role as a factor of stability in the region and beyond.
