Bledi Çomo, chairman of the Albania-Saudi Arabia Parliamentary Friendship Group, expressed Albania’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia over attacks and threats affecting the country’s security, population and civilian facilities.
Çomo said the threats extend beyond the security of a single state. They also affect regional stability, freedom of navigation and the security of strategic maritime routes, including the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
He also raised concerns over Houthi activity and reports of cooperation between the group and Al-Shabaab. Çomo said the developments pose a serious concern for international security. He noted that the United States classifies both organizations as terrorist groups.
Meanwhile, Çomo reaffirmed Albania’s support for its partners and for Saudi Arabia’s efforts to protect its sovereignty and citizens. He also expressed support for regional stability and freedom of international navigation.
