The Albanian Ambassadors’ Council has strongly condemned recent statements by Serbian Government Minister Snezhana Paunović, warning that such rhetoric threatens regional stability and contradicts European values.
In a statement, the council said the remarks revive concepts linked to the ethnic cleansing of Albanians and raise concerns about Serbia’s continued distancing from the ideology that fueled wars and crimes in the former Yugoslavia.
The council also highlighted what it described as ongoing discrimination against Albanians in the Presheva Valley, including the mass removal of addresses from official records.
The Albanian Ambassadors’ Council stressed that Kosovo’s independence remains an irreversible reality. It called on Albania to respond through diplomatic channels with the Serbian Embassy in Tirana and, together with Kosovo, raise the issue with the European Union, NATO, and strategic partners.
The council said the Western Balkans need responsible leadership, respect for international law, and good neighborly relations rather than a return to inflammatory and divisive rhetoric.
