Albanian and Italian police officials discuss cooperation on tourism security and crime prevention

TIRANA, April 16 – Albania’s State Police Director General Skënder Hita met Italian senior police official Lorenzo Bucossi in Tirana. Bucossi leads the International Police Cooperation Service of Italy.

The two officials reviewed ongoing cooperation between Albanian and Italian police forces. Hita said both sides will strengthen multidimensional ties. Bucossi praised Hita’s approach and invited him for a working visit to Italy.

Talks covered operational coordination and information exchange in fighting organised crime. Officials also discussed joint action against illegal trafficking and narcotics cultivation. Both sides agreed to continue joint operations to locate internationally wanted individuals.

Participants addressed security during the tourist season, including the presence of Italian police officers in Durrës and Vlora. They also agreed to expand cooperation between police academies. One Albanian police officer will attend studies at the Italian Police Academy.
