The ballet companies of Albania and Kosovo will perform together on the same stage for the first time, marking a significant cultural milestone for both countries.
The production “Neighbours / From Motherland”, created by choreographers Brigel Gjoka and Rauf “RubberLegz” Yasit, will open the fifth edition of the International Dance Festival Tirana (IDFT) with a world premiere.
The performance explores shared roots, identity, and the relationship between Albania and Kosovo through the language of contemporary dance. As a result, the joint production brings together artists from both countries in a historic cultural collaboration.
Moreover, the project represents an important step in strengthening artistic ties between Tirana and Prishtina while highlighting common cultural experiences.
The premiere will take place on October 3 and 4 at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana. Afterwards, the production will be presented on October 7 at the National Theatre of Kosovo.
Meanwhile, the fifth edition of IDFT is being held under the artistic direction of internationally renowned Albanian-French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj. Through the festival, Preljocaj aims to further develop the contemporary dance scene in Albania and strengthen Tirana’s position as a regional center for contemporary dance.
