TIRANA, August 28 – Deputy Prime Minister Albana Kociu highlighted the story of Haxhire, a beekeeper who has worked in the field for around 50 years. She currently cares for 68 beehives.
In a social media post, Kociu praised Albanian beekeepers and the support they receive through the National Agriculture Scheme. She said the government had doubled this year’s support to 2,000 ALL per hive to help cover costs and sustain beekeeping activities.
According to Kociu, 7,016 beekeepers applied for the 2026 scheme after authorities lowered the funding threshold for this measure.
Haxhire said beekeeping requires commitment, time and continuous spending despite her passion for the profession. She added that she had received state support every year and considered it important in covering the costs of beekeeping.
The beekeeper also stressed the demanding nature of caring for the hives. She said the activity required substantial spending but remained rewarding.
Kociu said support policies aimed to assist people who work and produce, contributing to the development of Albania’s economy.
