Albanian Electricity Distribution Operator introduces debt relief scheme for large businesses

TIRANA, April 16 – Albania’s electricity distribution operator has introduced a new relief scheme aimed at restructuring outstanding electricity debts for large businesses.

According to the announcement, eligible companies will be able to repay their obligations in up to 120 instalments. The exact number of instalments will depend on the total debt level. The measure is designed to ease financial pressure and improve liquidity in the business sector.

The operator also said that companies choosing immediate repayment will benefit from a 50% reduction in late-payment interest penalties.

The scheme applies to debts accumulated up to 31 December 2024. It aims to support businesses in managing liabilities while maintaining operational stability and encouraging continued economic activity.
