World-famous Albanian singer Bebe Rexha has spoken out in support of Albanian students in North Macedonia, who have announced a protest regarding the right to take the Jurisprudence exam in the Albanian language.
Through a message shared on social media, the artist emphasized the importance of the Albanian language to the national identity of Albanians, recalling the sacrifices made across generations to preserve it.
“Our Albanian language is deeply rooted in our identity. For generations, we have fought to preserve it and keep it alive,” she said.
Bebe Rexha also reminded the public that North Macedonia is a multiethnic state where the Albanian language is recognized as a co-official language, while stressing that Albanian students deserve the same rights and opportunities as all other citizens.
The artist’s reaction comes at a time when Albanian students have raised concerns over restrictions on the use of the Albanian language in university exams.
