Albania’s Parliament approved a new draft law and several resolutions during a plenary session on Tuesday.
Lawmakers passed a law that strengthens official controls on food and animal feed safety, animal health and welfare, plant health, and plant protection products. The measure received 74 votes in favor.
Parliament also approved several resolutions reviewing the 2025 work of key public institutions. These included the Civil Service Commissioner, the Commissioner for the Right to Information and Personal Data Protection, the Department of Public Administration, the Competition Authority, the Public Procurement Commission, the Authority for Information on Former State Security Files, the Institute for the Study of the Crimes and Consequences of Communism, and the Deposit Insurance Agency.
In addition, lawmakers approved several changes to parliamentary committees. They appointed Gjin Gjoni to the Secretariat for Procedures and Ethics. They also replaced Marjana Koçeku with Onid Berberi, Sara Mila, and Ilva Gjuzi in different parliamentary committees.
