American outlet TheStreet highlights Tirana among 2027 travel trends

The American business and finance outlet TheStreet has highlighted Tirana as a budget-friendly destination gaining international attention ahead of 2027. Citing travel booking platform Skyscanner’s annual travel trends report, the outlet says travellers increasingly choose destinations where favourable exchange rates stretch their budgets.

A survey of 28,000 travellers found that 41% had changed destinations to benefit from better exchange rates. The figure rose to 72% among Generation Z respondents. Tirana features alongside Da Nang in Vietnam, Wrocław in Poland and Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan.

The report also identifies shopping-focused trips and longer journeys inspired by ancient civilisations as emerging trends for 2027. Skyscanner found that 34% of respondents had tried to plan a trip inspired by a film this year. Interest in destinations linked to ancient Troy and Greece was also strong among younger travellers.
