The Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, announced a new appointment today. Arta Marku now leads the National Center for Books and Reading.
She began her career in 1993 at the newspaper Koha Jonë. Later, she worked at Gazeta Shqiptare, Shekulli, and Panorama. She always focused on books and literature.
Marku led several cultural magazines as editor-in-chief. Since 2014, she has produced the shows Bibliotekë on RTSH and Palimpsest on Radio Tirana. Through Agora, she brought literature closer to the public in open and interactive spaces.
She met with high school students in Tirana. Marku also served on juries for literary awards and competitions. She wrote and translated several important works. This gives her experience and a clear vision for developing books and reading in Albania.
Minister Gonxhja thanked former director Esmeralda Bardhyli for her valuable work over the years.
