TIRANA, July 29 – Artan Pogoni passed away on Wednesday at the age of 54 after suffering cardiac arrest while on holiday in the city of Vlora.
Pogoni was one of Albania’s most recognised volleyball figures. He won national titles both as a player and as a coach.
He also built a strong academic career. Pogoni held a PhD and four university degrees. He dedicated his work to the development of sports sciences, especially in sports recreation, training methodology and physical education.
Meanwhile, Pogoni served as Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sport at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Tourism and Sport of “Barleti” University. He also served as a member of the university’s Academic Senate.
His contribution to Albanian volleyball and sports education marked his professional career.
