The average salary in Albania exceeded 92,000 lek in the second quarter of the year, increasing by 10% in one year. However, significant disparities remain, with the finance and technology sectors paying more than double the national average.
The average salary in Albania continued to rise during the second quarter of 2026, exceeding 92,000 lek gross per month. However, the data show that the labor market remains polarized, with more than a quarter of employees officially declared as earning the minimum wage, while at the same time the number of employees earning more than 120,000 lek per month is also growing.
According to data published by INSTAT, the average gross monthly salary for an employee reached 92,150 lek in the second quarter of 2026, an increase of 9.8% compared with the same period last year.
Trends in recent years show a significant increase in nominal wages. In the second quarter of 2024, the average salary stood at 75,114 lek, while one year later it reached 83,906 lek. In the first quarter of this year, the average salary was 90,120 lek, rising to 92,150 lek in the April–June period. Over the past two years, the average salary has increased by around 17,000 lek.
However, significant differences between sectors remain. Finance and insurance continue to be the highest-paying economic activity in the country, with an average monthly salary of 187,267 lek, more than double the national average. The information and communication sector ranks second, with an average salary of 143,528 lek. These are also the only two economic activities with average salaries above the national level.
