President Bajram Begaj visited Boston and met local authorities and members of the Albanian community. He praised strong Albanian-American ties and the contribution of the diaspora. During the visit, Massachusetts officials welcomed Begaj, while Worcester Mayor Joe Petty presented him with the Key to the City.
The president also visited St. George Cathedral, the Fan Noli Library, and Albanian Orthodox institutions. At the Albanian Community Center in Beverly, he met hundreds of Albanians from across Albanian-speaking regions. Begaj described Boston as historically important for Albanians and emphasized the diaspora’s role in shaping the Albanian state and supporting Kosovo.
He highlighted the sacrifices and success of Albanian emigrants and called for stronger cooperation between Albania and the diaspora. Begaj said closer ties should translate into concrete collaboration for the country’s development.
