Governor of the Bank of Albania Gent Sejko met with a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), led by its new Resident Representative in Albania, Hannes Takacs.
During the meeting, Sejko presented the latest economic and financial developments in Albania and said the economy is expected to continue growing steadily in the coming period.
Moreover, he highlighted that the Bank of Albania’s consistent monetary policy has helped maintain macroeconomic stability and support sustainable economic growth.
Regarding the banking sector, Sejko said Albanian banks remain stable, with strong capital, liquidity and profitability indicators.
He also noted that non-performing loans have fallen to 3.7%, marking the lowest level since 2008.
According to Sejko, this achievement reflects structural reforms, improved financial discipline in the banking sector and stronger regulatory and supervisory frameworks.
Furthermore, the governor praised Albania’s cooperation with the EBRD and thanked the institution for supporting strategic projects in economic and financial development.
Meanwhile, EBRD representatives welcomed the close partnership with the Bank of Albania and expressed readiness to expand cooperation in areas such as green transition, digitalization, business competitiveness and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Finally, Hannes Takacs reaffirmed that the EBRD will remain a strategic partner for Albania, helping develop key economic sectors and strengthen entrepreneurship.
