President Bajram Begaj attended the Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit in Kyiv and the ceremonies marking Ukraine’s Statehood Day, reaffirming Albania’s strong support for Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, recovery, and European integration.
“Albania has been clear and unwavering in its support for Ukraine. We stand with your independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity within your internationally recognized borders,” Begaj said.
During the summit, the Albanian President called for stronger cooperation on security, regional stability, Ukraine’s transparent reconstruction, and its path toward European integration. He stressed that support for Ukraine must go beyond statements and translate into concrete actions.
“Our support must turn into practical cooperation. This summit allows us to strengthen political coordination, deepen regional solidarity, and identify concrete areas for joint action,” Begaj said.
The leaders of Southeast Europe and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen concluded the summit with a joint declaration, reaffirming their unity with Ukraine and recognizing its security as part of Europe’s overall security.
During the Statehood Day ceremonies, Begaj honored the resilience of the Ukrainian people, praising soldiers, civilians, families, medical workers, teachers, rescuers, and volunteers for their courage amid the ongoing challenges.
While in Kyiv, President Begaj also held a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The two leaders discussed stronger cooperation, support for Ukraine’s recovery, security and economic development, as well as opportunities for new agreements.
Begaj reaffirmed Albania’s full solidarity with Ukraine and commitment to further strengthening relations between the two countries.
