President Bajram Begaj paid an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, marking the first visit by an Albanian president to the country.
The visit reaffirmed Albania and the UAE’s commitment to strengthening their future-oriented partnership.
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received President Begaj during the visit.
Begaj thanked the UAE for its solidarity and friendship with Albania and its people during difficult periods. He highlighted the UAE’s support during the Kosovo war, the 2019 earthquake and the 2022 cyberattack.
Meanwhile, the two presidents expressed their shared commitment to expanding cooperation. They also discussed new opportunities in areas of mutual interest.
Begaj stressed that political, economic and people-to-people ties between Albania and the UAE will continue to grow. He also highlighted the opening of the UAE Embassy in Tirana as an important step in strengthening bilateral relations.
Economic cooperation and investment featured prominently in the talks. Begaj called for increased bilateral investment and greater involvement by Emirati investors in Albania.
He identified infrastructure, energy, innovation and tourism as key sectors for future investment. He also highlighted other strategic areas with potential for cooperation.
The two presidents also discussed multilateral cooperation and international challenges. Albania and the UAE share common priorities in peace, security and development.
During his visit, Begaj also met Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE and Chairman of the Presidential Court.
