President Bajram Begaj has called on citizens and all parties involved in the recent protests to reject violence and prioritize dialogue. He stressed that Albania needs calm, responsibility and cooperation.
In a message to the public, Begaj said he had followed both the protesters’ demands and the acts of violence over the past two days. “Albania is our common homeland. It is everyone’s home,” he said, expressing regret over the violence.
The President also stressed that authorities must listen to citizens, especially young people. He said their voices deserve attention because they represent the country’s hope and future.
However, Begaj warned that violence cannot serve as a means of expressing discontent. Instead, it harms society, threatens public safety and undermines democratic coexistence.
He urged all parties to act responsibly and prevent tensions from threatening constitutional order and national stability. He also expressed support for law enforcement officers as they carry out their duties and wished a speedy recovery to everyone injured, including police officers and protesters.
Finally, Begaj reaffirmed his readiness to help create opportunities for dialogue and mutual understanding. He called on all parties to work together in the interests of young people and Albania.
