Tourism in Albania continues to grow, and Berat has recorded strong visitor numbers in early 2026. As a result, the city has confirmed its status as one of the country’s most popular destinations.
Minister of State for Local Government Ervin Demo announced that around 550,000 visitors traveled to Berat between January and May 2026. He added that about 85% of them were foreign tourists.
Moreover, visitors are exploring the city’s key attractions every day. They are visiting Berat Castle, the historic neighborhoods of Mangalem and Gorica, as well as local wineries and agrotourism sites.
In addition, tourists are taking part in outdoor activities such as rafting on the Osum River and hiking in the Qafë-Dardhë area and Mount Tomorr. These experiences are further increasing the city’s appeal.
Finally, Demo emphasized that Berat’s cultural heritage, natural beauty, gastronomy, and hospitality are making it a highly attractive destination for both domestic and international visitors.
