Berisha Heads to the U.S., Invited by IDU to Republican Party Convention in Texas

Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha was invited on Thursday by the International Democracy Union (IDU) to join the organization’s official delegation to the Republican Party’s National Convention. The event is expected to take place in Dallas, Texas, on September 9 and 10, 2026.

In an official letter dated August 7, 2026, IDU Secretary General and Executive Director Tina Mercep confirmed Berisha’s participation in the event. In her message to the Democratic Party leader, she expressed her pleasure that he would be joining the delegation, stressing that his presence at this important Republican gathering would be valuable both to him and to the Democratic Party of Albania.

“IDU is pleased that you will be joining the delegation, and we are confident that your participation in this historic Republican Party gathering will be valuable to you and the Democratic Party of Albania,” the letter addressed to Berisha reads.
