Board cuts diesel price by 3 ALL, sets ceiling at 198 ALL per litre

TIRANA, May 15 – Albania’s Transparency Board set new fuel price ceilings on Friday and lowered the diesel price by 3 ALL per litre.
According to the decision taken at the May 15 meeting, the retail price of SSH EN 590 diesel will not exceed 198 ALL per litre, while the wholesale price will stand at no more than 186 lek per litre.

Meanwhile, the retail price of gasoline will not exceed 185 lek per litre. The wholesale price will stand at no more than 173 ALL per litre.
The board said the new prices entered into force on May 15 at 13:00 and will remain valid until the next meeting, when authorities will reflect new market changes.

In addition, authorities warned wholesale and retail fuel operators to implement the decision. They said violations could lead to measures including suspension of activity.

Meanwhile, the board said Normative Act No.1 of April 3, 2026 reduces the excise level to 80% only when diesel prices exceed 220 lek per litre or gasoline prices exceed 200 ALL per litre. Since current prices remain below those levels, authorities will continue to apply the full 100% excise rate.
