Butrint Community Grants Offer Up to $20,000 in Support

The Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF), in cooperation with the Butrint Management Foundation (BMF), has launched the first call for applications under the Butrint Community Grant Scheme.

The initiative supports individuals, local businesses and nonprofit organizations with projects focused on economic, cultural, social and tourism development in the Butrint National Park area and surrounding communities.

Applications remain open until October 15, 2026. Selected beneficiaries can receive grants of up to $20,000.

The program covers areas including Vrinë, Shëndëlli, Xarrë, Çiflik, Mursi and other rural communities near Butrint National Park identified as priorities for economic, social and tourism development.

The scheme places local communities at the center of Butrint’s future development. Residents, artisans, farmers, tour guides, tourism operators, businesses and local organizations are considered key partners in protecting the area’s values and building a more sustainable local economy.

Through this support, the initiative aims to create new products, services and tourism experiences, improve existing activities and generate new opportunities for the community.

AADF, together with the Ministry of Culture, established the Butrint Management Foundation as the implementing body for an integrated management model that combines cultural and natural heritage protection with sustainable local development.
