Candidate Lists for Kosovo Parliamentary Elections Submitted, 917 Names in the Race

The deadline for submitting candidate lists for parliamentary elections to the Central Election Commission of Kosovoofficially ended this Wednesday, moving the electoral process into the institutional verification phase ahead of the June 7 elections.

According to the Central Election Commission of Kosovo, a total of 23 political entities have registered for the elections, with 917 candidates competing for seats in the Assembly of Kosovo.

The submission process lasted 11 days, from May 2 to May 12. Of the participating entities, 18 are political parties, 3 are coalitions, one is a civic initiative, and one is an independent candidate. Four additional parties failed to submit candidate lists.

KQZ spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced that following the deadline, the candidate verification phase has now begun, during which authorities will examine whether each candidate meets the legal criteria before the final certification of the lists.

“The total number of parliamentary candidates is 917, of whom 603 are men and 314 are women. The certification process is expected to be completed by May 15,” Elezi stated.

According to the Central Election Commission of Kosovo, only after this verification process is completed will the official list of political entities and candidates competing in Kosovo’s extraordinary elections on June 7 be finalized.
