TIRANA, April 23 – Customs administrations from the region and international partners met in Moldova at a CEFTA (Central European Free Trade Agreement) working group session. The meeting focused on authorised economic operators and customs risk management as part of regional efforts to facilitate trade.
Participants discussed the development of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programmes. The programmes aim to increase trust for compliant businesses and speed up customs procedures. They also reviewed risk management systems used in customs control operations.
The discussions highlighted coordination between customs administrations to improve targeted inspections. Authorities also addressed measures to facilitate the movement of goods in international trade. They further examined the role of technology in customs procedures and risk analysis.
The Albanian Customs Administration said the AEO programme remains a priority. It reported that 18 Albanian companies currently hold AEO status, while 13 are in the application process. Authorities said expansion of the programme is expected to improve competitiveness and strengthen cooperation with international partners.
