The Cërrik Municipal Council met to set the schedule for public hearings as part of the Administrative-Territorial Reform. From the beginning of the meeting, right-wing councillors voiced their opposition to the proposed merger of Cërrik with Elbasan, while left-wing councillors also appeared unclear about their position.
Cërrik Mayor Florenc Doka remained cautious, saying that he would make his position on the Territorial Reform public after the hearings are completed.
The Administrative-Territorial Reform provides for the merger of Cërrik and Belsh with the Municipality of Elbasan. Protests against the proposal have previously been held in Cërrik, while signatures have also been collected through petitions.
