Chief of the General Staff: New tactical vehicles strengthen Armed Forces’ operational capabilities

TIRANA, July 31 – The Albanian Armed Forces received the first 40 military tactical vehicles produced in Albania by Timak Defence under NATO standards.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, Defense Minister Ermal Nufi, Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, KAYO administrator Ardi Veliu and Timak Defence entrepreneur Arjeta Puça attended the handover ceremony. The first batch includes 5 dump trucks and 35 Toyota Land Cruiser 4×4 vehicles.

Kingji said the new vehicles represent a major step in modernizing the Armed Forces and expanding Albania’s defense industry. He added that the vehicles increase operational capabilities rather than serving only as transport assets.

Meanwhile, Kingji said domestic production now configures and assembles military tactical vehicles that meet Albania’s operational requirements. He noted that the project supports defense reforms and equips the Armed Forces with modern systems and platforms.

The chief of the General Staff said the vehicles improve troop mobility and support NATO and European Union requirements for rapid and coordinated deployment. He added that future deliveries will gradually renew the fleet of light, medium, heavy and special-purpose vehicles.

Kingji said the vehicles will also strengthen emergency response operations, including firefighting, flood response and search-and-rescue missions. He added that domestic production reduces supply chains, lowers maintenance costs and improves long-term readiness.
