“Clean Trails, Protected Forests”, youth join initiative on Kune Island

TIRANA, May 13 – The national programme “Clean Trails, Protected Forests” continued across the country with a focus on environmental protection and maintenance of tourist trails.

This time, a group of students from Lezha joined the initiative on Kune Island. They responded to calls for broader civic engagement, as authorities said protected area specialists alone cannot ensure the preservation of natural spaces.

Meanwhile, students across the country have become active participants in the programme. They contribute directly to cleaning and maintaining trails through educational activities and outdoor excursions.

The programme “Clean Trails, Protected Forests” aims to build a new culture of cooperation between institutions and citizens. It places environmental protection as a shared national priority.

At the same time, tourist trails across Albania are increasingly becoming destinations for both local and foreign visitors. Authorities cite natural landscapes and opportunities for hiking, adventure, and exploration as key attractions. They also point to growing interest in mountain tourism, which has increased the need for stronger maintenance and environmental care.
