Customs meetings focus on declaration accuracy and modernization

TIRANA, May 1 – General Director of Customs Besmir Beja held meetings with customs agency representatives in Tirana and Durrës. The meetings took place within ongoing dialogue with the business community and customs stakeholders.

He underlined the role of customs agencies as an intermediary link between economic operators and the administration. He stressed the need for regular communication and effective cooperation.

Meanwhile, Beja said the main objective remains higher accuracy and transparency in customs declarations. He linked this to the need to reduce errors and strengthen system integrity.

In addition, he said the customs administration works on alignment with European Union standards. He identified IT system development as a key priority.
He also highlighted human resource capacity building and cooperation with EU counterpart administrations.
