Day 17 of Student Protests: Students March from Parliament to Ministry of Education

Students have begun marching from Parliament towards the Ministry of Education, continuing their protests for the 17th consecutive day as they demand the unconditional resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

A day earlier, students had announced a demonstration outside Parliament to coincide with the start of the plenary session. However, turnout was low, with only a small number of young protesters taking part.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Edi Rama renewed his invitation for dialogue with the students this morning, as he had done the previous day. The students have rejected his offer.

The student protests have been marked by clashes, tensions, police detentions and injuries. University lecturers have also joined the demonstrations and announced a boycott of classes.

It remains to be seen whether another group of protesters will join the students marching from Parliament once they reach the Ministry of Education.
