Defence Minister Ermal Nufi has met with the new US Ambassador to Albania, Eric Wendt.
In a social media post, Nufi shared moments from his meeting with the US ambassador, highlighting the importance of the partnership between Albania and the United States in the fields of defence and security.
“Ambassador Wendt, welcome to Albania! Together with the United States, Albania stands side by side for freedom, security and peace,” Nufi wrote.
The minister described the United States as an indispensable partner for Albania in defence and security, while underscoring the importance of the country’s geographical position, reliability and willingness to cooperate.
In his post, Nufi mentioned Corridor VIII, Porto Romano, Kuçova Air Base and Albania’s Host Nation Support capabilities as elements that, according to him, strengthen the Alliance’s architecture and mobility in Southeastern Europe.
He also highlighted Albania’s support for Ukraine, its presence in KFOR, participation in multinational initiatives and the decision to take part in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza.
According to Nufi, these commitments demonstrate that Albania is a trusted ally capable of contributing to security and peace.
