Defense Minister Ermal Nufi met today with the new U.S. Ambassador to Albania, Eric Wendt, and reaffirmed the strong partnership between Albania and the United States in the fields of defense and security.
Nufi described the United States as Albania’s indispensable partner in security and defense, while stressing that Albania contributes strategic geographic importance, reliability and a clear commitment to cooperation.
The minister also highlighted key infrastructure projects, including Corridor VIII, Porto Romano, the Kuçova Air Base and Albania’s Host Nation Support capabilities. According to Nufi, these assets strengthen NATO’s architecture and mobility across Southeastern Europe.
Meanwhile, Nufi underlined Albania’s growing role as an active contributor to international peace and security. He pointed to Albania’s support for Ukraine, its participation in KFOR and involvement in multinational initiatives.
In addition, he referred to Albania’s decision to take part in the International Stabilization Force in Gaza, describing it as further evidence of the country’s commitment to global security efforts.
“With the United States, Albania stands side by side for freedom, security and peace,” Nufi said.
The meeting reaffirmed the close cooperation between Tirana and Washington and highlighted the two countries’ shared commitment to regional stability and international security.
