Interior Minister Ervin Demo met with Valentina Superti, Director for the Western Balkans at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Enlargement, with discussions focusing on Albania’s progress in the European Union accession process.
During their first meeting, discussions focused on the closing benchmarks for Chapter 24, “Justice, Freedom and Security,” and Chapter 22, “Regional Policy and Coordination of Structural Instruments,” as well as the institutional commitments required to meet them.
Demo welcomed the European Commission’s readiness to continue providing expertise and assistance on priority issues, while stressing the importance of maintaining the pace of reforms and close institutional cooperation in pursuit of the 2027 target.
“With commitment, concrete results and close cooperation between our teams, we continue working to fulfil our obligations and advance Albania towards membership in the European Union,” the Interior Minister said.
